At Charlie Crow costumes for kids, we don’t just make fun costumes for children and adults we also take our commitment to the environment seriously. We are trying to reduce our environmental footprint in a number of ways.
Fabrics used in Charlie Crow Costumes for Kids
All Charlie Crow childrens costumes are made from manmade fabrics, this is because natural fibres, such as cotton and linen, will not pass the strict international flammability safety standards that are there to protect children from hazards while playing.
Charlie Crow’s environmentally friendly answer to using manmade fibres is to make good quality kids costumes that will stand up to lots of play and wear. Our costumes can all be washed on a short washing cycle and no not need tumble drying, this reduces the energy required to maintain your costume
Recycling Charlie Crow costumes
A Charlie Crow costume is designed to last a long time and may be still usable after it has been outgrown. You can store your costume away for your grandchildren; lots of our customers do, or donate friend, local school, theatre or playgroup. There’s always a good home waiting for a Charlie Crow kids costume!
Alternatively, you can send your Charlie Crow costume back to us; we distribute these costumes to local charity groups. As a special thank you we will send you by return a 10% discount voucher off any future costume order.
Packaging Charlie Crow Costumes
We have reduced the amount of plastic and packaging we use to despatch your costume to the bare minimum. All our packaging is recyclable.
Charlie Crow Catalogue
This year we have not printed a full costume catalogue, it is more environmentally friendly for our customers to view our range of costumes online. This has helped us to reduce our environmental impact even further. We have produced a small taster costume catalogue which you can request from this page or you can downloaded here. The costume booklet is printed on 100% recycled paper, totally chlorine free, fully recyclable and biodegradable, when you have finished with it, pass it on to another needy parent or, pop it into the compost bin!
Fabric waste – Charlie Crow FREE Resource kit for schools
At one time 20% of fabric we cut out to make a Charlie Crow costume would be cut off waste and be thrown away. Now we recycle all our waste fabrics into a resource kit made up of colourful fabric scraps, cotton cones, cardboard tubes, etc. We give these kits as well as £50 worth of FREE costumes, to schools and playgroups that pass our information on to parents. If you know of a school or charity organisation who would like a Charlie Crow resource kit go to our School’s info page to find out more.
